How does hypnotherapy work?
During a Hypnotherapy session I will help you to experience a deep state of relaxation or hypnosis as we call it. While you are in this pleasant, dreamlike state your mind becomes open to positive suggestions and change. Hypnosis is nothing new. In the 1840’s that Dr Erickson made the amazing discovery that when his patients were in hypnosis, through the power of suggestion, they experienced no pain, they recovered much quicker and the safety record was drastically improved. Hypnosis allows you to reprogram your mind, process your emotions, get rid of old, unwanted behaviour patterns and replace them with new, positive alternatives. Therefore, habits can be broken, phobias dissolved, and new ways of thinking can be born.
In a nutshell, hypnotherapy improves your life and the results are fast.
How can hypnotherapy help you?
Hypnotherapy offers a way of treating a range of conditions, from simple issues such as stopping smoking, to weight loss, phobias, childbirth, confidence building and many deeper emotional issues.
Lose weight for good
We deal with the emotional issues first and then sow the seed for new positive eating habits. This usually takes just 3 sessions. See my Weight Loss page Nigella Lawson used hypnotherapy to help shed 2 stone – Mail Online 19 April 2013
Quit smoking for good
Please see my Quit Smoking page.
Pain relief during labour
using the fantastic HypnoBirthing program (the Mongan Method)
I use techniques from the Fertile Body Method (please see Fertility page). Hypnosis has been proven to aid fertility by:
Reducing stress and increasing feeling of calm and relaxation.
Restoring physical, mental and emotional balance and wellbeing.
Identifying and resolving issues that may be preventing conception.
Improve your golf
In a sport such as golf where hand-eye co-ordination and concentration is paramount it is fair to say that the mental aspect of the game is even more important than the physical aspect. This is especially true when it comes to putting. Many professionals, including Tiger Woods use sports hypnosis and visualization techniques to improve their game.
Break bad habits
- Nail biting
Help with weight loss / control
Reduce or eliminate exam nerves
Reduce stress & anxiety and stop panic attacks
Anxiety makes mountains out of molehills & monsters out of moles.
The antidote to anxiety is not just insight or analysis or trying to forcibly think differently in the hope of feeling differently. The key, when we get down to it, is relaxation.
Learn how to relax deeply & use mindfulness techniques & you will quickly be on a road to recovery.
Aid sleep / alleviate insomnia

What does it feel like to be in hypnosis?
During a session, you will feel deeply relaxed, but fully aware of what’s going on. To anyone watching you, you may appear to be asleep but you’re not, and are able to participate fully in the session.
We have all experienced this state of consciousness without even knowing it. When we are daydreaming or totally engrossed in a book or a film we are actually in a state of hypnosis.
Online Hypnotherapy is available at the click of a button!
it’s not always convenient to travel to a nearby professional. By expanding my services to encompass online sessions, I make personal support as simple as clicking a button.
Hypnosis is an all-natural approach that doesn’t rely on the hypnotist being in the room with you. As long as you can see and hear them, you’ll be able to experience exactly the same benefits as you would with a face-to-face session.
In fact, a number of my online clients have reported they found the initial first steps of the process less stressful when undertaken online. This is because they were able to remain in familiar surroundings throughout their treatment, and didn’t have the stress and uncertainty of driving to an appointment. If these are things that you feel you may struggle with, then online hypnosis via either Skype or Zoom could be a fantastic option to explore.
Choose the Right Space
One of the benefits of online hypnotherapy is that you can undertake your sessions in the comfort and security of your own home. To ensure you get the most out of every session, there are a few tried and tested things which you might like to implement in your home so that you can achieve your goals sooner.
Having a designated space for your sessions is the most important thing as it will create positive habits which you can then take with you throughout the rest of your day. Choose somewhere quiet and tranquil, and with plenty of natural light if you find it relaxes you. You will want to be warm and cozy, but not so hot that you become drowsy or your attention begins to wane. Turn off the TV, leave your phone in a different room, and make sure your surroundings are quiet and peaceful.
Common Misconceptions About Hypnosis
There are a number of common misconceptions about hypnosis that it’s important to be aware of before you decide to embark on a series of online sessions.
The most common of which is that you can become stuck in a hypnotised state indefinitely. Rest assured, not only is this not the case, I begin every session by programming in everything necessary to ensure you return to your normal state of consciousness should the internet connection drop for any reason.
Secondly, you may hear stories of how hypnotists will put their clients in trance states over which they have no control. This is also untrue, and I take steps to ensure you have full control every step of the way. Should you wish to ask me any questions before, during, or after a session, then I actively encourage you to do so.
